Shape Of Slit

Not only can the angle of the crease change, as shown in the previous technique, but the shape of the slit itself can also change. When these two variables are used in combination, the range of possible forms becomes immense. Follow through the step-by-step sequence, and then make each of the variations to learn the full potentiel of this technique.


1. Having drawn the construction, use a craft knife to cut along the brown lines.


2. Fold along the two green lines, one at the top and the other at the bottom, creating valley creases.






3. Open the pop-up, and re-crease the gutter crease as a mountain fold.






4. Similarly, re-crease the small step-shaped pop-up at the bottom of the paper (on the left of the picture ) to create a mountain crease down this part of the gutter.




Résultat Final:
The  arms of the pop-up pierce the plane of the backing sheet to create a structure that can be viewed from all sides.
