In the angle of Crease Technique, the shape of the split remains constant but the angle of the crease changes, creating a range of surprisingly different forms.
First, work through the step-by-step example, then the variations that follow. In the first two variations, the shape of the split remains the same as for the step-by-step example, but in the other three the slit at 45 degrees to the gutter crease. In each case, the angle of the crease changes.

     1.     Fold a sheet of stiff paper in half. Measure along the folded edge (the gutter crease) and mark the halfway point. Using a pencil, draw a line from the crease into the middle of the paper. Cut along this line.

    2.     Carefully fold along a line from the end of the split to the gutter crease, creating a triangle. Press firmly.

       3.   Unfold the triangle so that it is in its previous position, then fold in to the back of the sheet, once again creasing firmly along the same line.

      4.    Unfold the triangle once again, then unfold the gutter crease, opening out the card completely.

      5.    This is the critical step. Pull up the triangle while also folding the paper shut again. All the creases must form simultaneously. They should appear as shown here. Note, there is only one mountain crease, down the middle of triangle; the others are valleys.

     6.    Finally, close up the pop-up and press it flat, strengthening all the crease.
